To restore the whiteness to your clothing, a few well-tried and environmentally friendly home remedies are better than chemical bleaches or laundry whitening wipes. There are lots of options: vinegar, baking powder, milk, salt, citric acid and bicarbonate of soda have a bleaching effect and will brighten the colour of your top once again. How effective the remedies are depends on the degree of soiling.
Bleaching clothes with vinegar or baking powder – here's how:
Depending on the degree of soiling, put a half to full cup of (white!) vinegar in the fabric conditioner compartment of your washing machine and wash your blouse normally according to the directions on the care label. Don’t worry: the vinegar smell will have gone by the time it is dry at the latest.
Alternatively, baking powder can dissolve dirt from laundry. You only need to distribute one to two bags in the drum of the washing machine and wash as usual. Extra tip: the effect is magnified if you add a teaspoon of salt and a little vinegar. Your blouse will once more be brilliant white!
